Until the 2022 TeacherGoals Connected School Communities Conference (Virtual)

We want to welcome you to our free inaugural conference! The conference will be in a virtual format so that you can be safe, not have to travel, and not have to take off from work to attend! This action-packed virtual event will focus on best practices and strategies for educators, students, parents, and schools for more connected and empowered school communities. Empowered Communities form when everyone has a role, purpose, and support. Teachers, students, and families care about social-emotional development and are continually learning how to contribute meaningfully to the world around them. We know that each community member has something to share, and we learn best when we are working towards a goal together. This conference will amplify voices for those striving toward connectedness so each attendee can walk away with strategies to implement immediately and long term. We want to hear from those constantly striving to build these connected school communities and have been successful.

Conference Strands

Student Voice/Choice

As educators, when we promote student voice and choice, we are asking our students for their input and allowing them to take ownership of their learning. We do this because it empowers them, it creates confidence, and helps build stronger relationships. Our sessions will focus on how to implement student voice/choice. Examples could be through project based learning, blogging, podcasting, and any kind of way students are able to showcase their learning. Sessions will focus on actionable strategies that also connect to helping students excel in state standards/objectives.

Community and Family Engagement

The school community is not just about teachers and students. You will learn about how you, in your role as a teacher, student, parent, or community member, can engage with the school community in a way that promotes the mission of your school and/or district. Examples might include how you can welcome parents or community members, utilize connections of support, and partnering with organizations and schools.

Social-Emotional Learning

Social-emotional learning is just not a checklist, course, lesson, or certain time of the day. It is how we teach, how we learn, how we interact, and more. Sessions will focus on how to implement SEL with students and/or school staff members. Examples might include how SEL has impacted learning, how to tie in your academic lessons with SEL, and how to utilize SEL for a more empowered and connected school community.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity, equity, and inclusion must be more than just buzz words. Educators who value DEI strive to make sure their curriculum is representative of every child and taught in ways that honor the culture of their students’ families. Our sessions will focus on striving to honor all students, maintaining high expectations, and committing to learn more about DEI. Sessions may also include how this has improved student/teacher relationships, how it has impacted student achievement, and specific strategies to use right away.

School Leadership

Frequently, leadership is synonymous with administrators, but we know that school leadership is anyone committed to change and doing what’s best for the school community and those it serves. Learn how to show leadership in your current role to impact student achievement and the climate/culture of your school. You will also learn how to use your role to connect to the school community.
